Simplicity of rest

All questions come to an end in the instinctive recognition of who you are.

The simplicity and compassion in resting naturally throughout your day when you remember to do so is a gift beyond anything you could imagine.

Like someone who has worked all day long and is completely exhausted with nothing more to do, we relax just like that. No expectations, no ideas, just the simplicity of rest.

In doing so, you gain familiarity with the natural presence of who you are as the basic state of awareness.

Right Here

Everyone is naturally present. There is no need to go looking for well being anywhere other than right here. Well-being, peace and ease is always occurring whether you are recognizing it or not. By taking a short moment of rest, you gain familiarity with what is already achieved.

I used to run away to recharge myself in order to be of benefit to my friends and family. With the instinctive recognition of who we are as the natural presence of the basic state of awareness, all recharging is already accomplished in its recognition, as it is right here. No running necessary.

Naturally

Simple, natural human goodness to oneself– rest body and mind when you remember to do so. Short moments many times, become automatic.

Confidence comes about naturally.

Stability comes about naturally because it is already achieved.

Instinctive recognition comes with the understanding that you are not an accumulation of points of view, nor is anyone else, or anything else.

Naturally:

Naturally in a natural manner, in particular

In a normal manner, without distortion or exaggeration

As a natural result

Without special help or intervention

Happy holidays

With all of the hustle and bustle of the holidays it is truly incredible to know everything as the naturally present, soothing energy of the basic state. Complete ease and well-being are inherent in each moment whether you are recognizing it or not.

It is only by the craziness and repetition of stories and proliferation of points of view that our well-being can seem skewed in the midst of it all. By repeating a short moment of relaxed awareness again and again, innate stability is discovered within all points of view. No longer is it of interest to take a stance to defend anything, or protect anything. No longer is it of interest to partake in gossip, criticism, self-blame, or judgment. Within each short moment of relaxed awareness well-being is instinctively realized to be who you are and who everyone else is too.

Complete harmony in all relationships is naturally understood with this recognition.

Warmest love for a beautiful holiday!

Favorite quote

This is a favorite paragraph of mine from one of the transcribed talks from the founder of Great Freedom, Candice O'denver:

"Let's say you were trying to find an elephant. If so, the easiest approach is to follow the footsteps of the elephant. Elephants are enormous, so whenever they step they leave quite a footprint. Just as the footprint of the elephant is very obvious, in the same way the footprint of awareness in our sensory experience is very obvious. The footprint of awareness is found in one of two ways: rather than listening to all the labels and points of view about everything, listen over and over again to what is really true about each of us until it convictions on, or just rest as that awareness that is the basis of each label, until awareness becomes totally obvious and evident at all times, night and day."

This is a very profound key instruction.

Relationships

Gaining confidence in inherent, innate stability and recognizing who you are as the soothing energy of awareness takes care of all relationships without effort. All harmony is in the recognition right here. It is important to acknowledge this rest when we remember to do so and also to know that whatever the unfolding is for us, it is perfect as it is. Knowing what will be perfect in each relationship will naturally reveal itself with reliance on the basic state.

No agenda

The basic state has no agenda. It is not capable of taking up a defense. In one short moment of rest, easy relating occurs without effort. The natural presence found within each of us ensures well-being and wide-open clarity just by its nature. No matter what we are facing, instinctively understand that whatever is arising is only the play of the pure perfection and non-division of clarity. Relating with kindness, compassion, and openness is the movement of awareness. Appearances become laughable when you know the pure emptiness of everything.

Awareness and the basic state are not two.

Nothing to get

There is nothing to get and no one to get it. There is, however the understanding and recognition that all points of view are completely empty and not real. You are that which never changes and are completely indescribable – the soothing energy of the basic state itself. Awareness and the basic state are not two.

Monday, December 14, 2009

One short moment of rest

The natural compassion, understanding and knowing that millions of people everywhere, generation after generation have taken point of view to be real. It is a slight misperception that has caused so much unnecessary suffering. It is entirely freeing to know that no matter who you are, where you are, it makes no difference, everything is known as the soothing energy of the basic state, and nothing else. One short moment of complete rest acknowledges this now.

Complete warmth

What could be more natural than the natural presence of your fundamental condition?

You don't have to go anywhere to get it. Relax! Give yourself the gift of gentle compassion.

You will discover an equanimity of complete harmony, warmth and fullness.

Have a beautiful day.

Free, as it is

You don't have to do anything with point of view. Simply relaxing when you remember to do so builds confidence in the stability of who you are as the natural soothing energy and presence of the basic state. All points of view are empty and insubstantial. No need to alter or change the dynamic energy of awareness itself. Without labels or descriptions and with labels and descriptions, everything is free in its own place. Air and breeze, they're both the same thing. There is no one sustaining anything.

Monday, December 7, 2009

Entirely present

The fundamental condition of being human is entirely present and inherently simple. It is simply missed because of the busyness and involvement in taking point of view to be real. Allowing point of view to guide our actions can have a trickle-down effect to everyone around us, including ourselves. This is where suffering is.

To have compassion for oneself and allow a short moment of rest, we gain confidence in a stability and well-being that never changes no matter what is arising. We open ourselves naturally to a way of relating that is inclusive, beneficial, and free of reference points –all in one short moment of rest.

Friday, December 4, 2009

Natural confidence

No need to worry about trying to get anything. What could be easier than relaxing? Naturally, a gaining confidence with the fundamental stability and soothing energy of the Basic State is revealed without anyone trying to do so.

Nothing to do

The basic state is naturally present, totally pristine, and is known in one short moment of rest.

There is absolutely nothing to do. It is not necessary to try to get into the basic state of awareness, for this is the most innate essence of who you are, and what everyone else is, including all points of view.

The simplicity cannot be over emphasized. Gain familiarity with the primordial soothing energy of awareness. Recognize the emptiness and insubstantiality of all points of view. There is only spacious wide open awareness, vast like the sky.

Complete fullness, warmth, innate love, innate kindness, innate compassion, innate caring, all healing, all benefit. You!

Monday, November 30, 2009

Right here, right now

Everything is the dynamic energy of the basic state and nothing else. Right here, wide open stability is forever free, completely content. Just as a wave in the ocean can't separate from the vastness of the water itself, so too the vastness of the basic state is never changing and can't get out of itself - no matter how tumultuous it seems. Everything is your friend, your complete ally - the basic state. The basic state is not caused by anything, nor effected by point of view in any way whatsoever. The basic state is all there is and there is no one experiencing it. There is not point of view and the basic state. All is the basic state.

True identity is known now, right here.

No barriers

No fear! Labeling something as fear is another point of view appearing within awareness. It does not matter what thoughts, emotions, sensations, or experiences there are, everything is fine as it is. Point of view is not out to get you, all points of view are empty and insubstantial, there is nothing to get and no one to get at. There is only the basic state. Each short moment of rest allows for gaining confidence in the fundamental stability in which you respond from in any given moment, without effort. There is no barrier or limitation. The basic state is always wide open and free.

This leaves us with the skillful means and wisdom to easily relate and communicate effectively.
Benefit as wisdom are the core movements of awareness.

Thank you

Thank you to all resting friends – those who choose to go beyond what they think they know, those who choose to be open to all opportunities and circumstances. Thank you to those people committed to resting no matter what is appearing. Thank you for acknowledging change that is needed in behavior based on points of view. Thank you to all Great Freedom Teachers worldwide working to bring the message of "short moments of awareness repeated many times, become automatic".

The pervasive and primordial natural presence is instinctively recognized by gaining confidence in your fundamental condition as the basic state of awareness.

Sunday, November 22, 2009

No tactics

Tactics to counter point of view in order to make circumstances better are a temporary strategy to impermanent well-being. Applying tactics or strategies to point of view in order to feel better is like trying to push around space.

Applying meaning to point to view comes from applying a reference point based on what we think something means, usually learned from other people or past experience.

The perfection of the basic state right now, is not linked in any way to anything separate. There is not a connect the dot pattern of cause-and-effect. There is only the basic state, in which nothing is going on. The basic state has never been involved in any point of view and is perfect just as it is.

Friday, November 20, 2009

Pervasive well-being

Recognizing the basic state of awareness as your true identity does not mean that thoughts, feelings and circumstances go away or that you experience being happy all of the time.

Pervasive well-being within all thoughts, feelings, emotions and circumstances is true happiness, contentment and stability no matter what is coming down.

Pervasive well-being in anger
Pervasive well-being in sadness
Pervasive well-being in happiness
Pervasive well-being in physical pain
Pervasive well-being in stress
Pervasive well-being in anxiety
Pervasive well-being in irritation
Pervasive well-being in interesting experiences
Pervasive well-being in point of view.

The only way to know this, is in the instinct of recognition of the basic state of awareness. Short moments of rest repeated many times become automatic.

Wednesday, November 18, 2009

Wisdom in every moment

The tendency to fix people, places, or things in order to ensure acceptance or well-being are simply points of view that we have trained ourselves in repetitively. There is a tendency to base well-being on what others think, and constantly rearrange our behaviors to match up with some kind of ideal in order to feel okay. None of these actions have led to permanent well-being.

Well-being is ensured by the stability of the basic state of awareness. There is no need to rearrange points of view. Everything that arises is perfect just as it is. Relying on awareness equals clarity and wisdom in every moment.

Monday, November 16, 2009

Naturally

Recognition of awareness resolves all problems. Perfection is recognized as the fundamental basis of everything.

I knew examining my resentments and problems would never lead anywhere except for more pain.

By relaxing for short moments many times, you give yourself the simplicity of knowing exactly who you are and what everyone and everything is.

The only thing left to do is to be of benefit in a solution oriented way. A wide open perspective serves this naturally, completely and without effort.

Friday, November 13, 2009

Full potential

The simplicity of the natural presence of every human being is so basic and innate. By the process of short moments of awareness repeated many times, naturally and organically you gain confidence in a stability that you can count on.

In each moment you have a choice to relax as wisdom, or dig a pit of point of view. When you recognize the emptiness and insubstantiality of all points of view, then you know what they are and can fully play in the delight of wide open awareness, inclusive of all points of view.

You are never limited by any point of view and have the full potential of anything that you want to do.

Complete Love

A striving to be accepted based on how you should act or how you should dress or how you should be in general, is all a search in wanting to be loved.

Complete love resides in your very self. Recognize that who you are is not based on an accumulation of point of view.

Relax and know that who you are is perfect, complete, and flawless. Trust in short moments of rest, repeated many times until it becomes automatic.

Sunday, November 8, 2009

Forever present

What a relief it is to know that you do not need to change yourself or anyone else in order for things to be okay. By keeping the focus on yourself and committing to short moments of rest when you remember to do so, you are giving yourself the greatest gift that anyone could ever ask for. The natural presence of the soothing energy of awareness is who you are and with this recognition, will never go away, for it has always been present throughout our entire lifetime and lovingly pervades all appearances without effort.

Friday, November 6, 2009

Rest

There is nothing to defend with the instinctive recognition of who you are as the basic state.

Constant openness, constant love, constant kindness, even wrathful clarity with force, is fueled by complete wisdom and compassion without anyone doing anything.

It is crucial to gain familiarity with the natural presence of the basic state. In doing so, confidence is gained in this stability. You recognize that this is who you are.

Being open, kind, compassionate, willing, and patient is something that you cannot achieve or contrive. These qualities are the inherent goodness of all human beings. There is no work involved, it already is.

Only by resting when you remember to do so, will this understanding come to complete fruition by the recognition that all points of view are empty, and insubstantial, never separated or apart from the basic state.

Wednesday, November 4, 2009

The only thing to do

The incredible naturalness and simplicity of the basic state of awareness does not require anyone to learn anything. Gaining familiarity with the fundamental condition and stability of what never changes is key to understanding one's own true nature. Taking short moments of peace, short moments of serenity, short moments of clarity, short moments of awareness, – whatever terminology you prefer – it is the only thing to do.

Monday, November 2, 2009

No difference

With the recognition of the basic state of awareness as your identity, there are no longer any boundary lines, ie: yours or mine, his or hers, – everything is experienced as the spaciousness of awareness, as one single vast expanse, the natural presence of the soothing energy of awareness. You care about others just as much as you care about yourself, there is no difference between any point to view and "I". The only way to distinctly understand this is in one's own direct experience. With each short moment of rest, you guarantee yourself instantaneous relief and begin to gain confidence in a stability that is fundamental to you and that has never separated appearances.

The movement of awareness is benefit, without work. Everything becomes so much easier, and we naturally go the extra mile.

Giving Credit Away

The expression of gratitude and acknowledgment for people working together in a team or any other environment is the natural movement of awareness. When we are not defending a personal identity, there is no focus on self or other. No longer is there a power struggle or taking a stand in who gets credit for what. All credit is given away in the expression of gratitude and acknowledgment for others and their contributions.

With the recognition of who we are as the natural, basic state of awareness, everyone and everything is equally important. There is no longer a division between anyone or anything. With the wide open view of awareness, you see what is needed in any given circumstance and what will be the perfect thing to say or do. A natural coming together with complete gratitude and appreciation is the soft, gentle and innate kindness that is recognized in each person when it is acknowledged. In each short moment of relaxed awareness, accessibility to supreme wisdom is available now.

Wednesday, October 28, 2009

Inherent

You don't need to have any ideas or expectations about recognizing awareness. You are perfectly fine just as you are, nothing to change and nothing to make better. By giving yourself a break and allowing yourself to relax when you remember to do so, you tap into a great inherent ease and well-being. Simply by resting as clarity for short moments repeated many times, you come to understand yourself as the stability and natural presence of the Basic State of awareness. There is no learning required to know the fundamental condition of awareness, it is equally pervasive in all appearances, and is our true nature whether we're recognizing it or not.

Inherent: Existing in something as a permanent, essential, or characteristic attribute

Open love

Avoidance of relationship begins with avoiding your true nature, the basic natural presence of awareness. By focusing in on points of view and taking them to be real and solid, they seem to have a power to direct our actions. Wide open awareness has never been bound by point of view. The nature of the Basic State is naturally loving and inclusive, never judgmental or caught up in its appearances. Right here in each moment, awareness is free of right or wrong. Awareness is forever open in all relationships. In each short moment of allowing oneself the opportunity to relax, we give ourselves the gift of acknowledging who we are, the Basic State of Awareness.

Saturday, October 24, 2009

It is that simple

Human beings have a natural presence that is innate, it is called the Basic State. All appearances of the Basic State are its dynamic energy. The only way to know the Basic State is to relax for short moments repeated many times. There is absolutely no searching necessary. Whether you are recognizing it or not, the Basic State is. It is that simple.

No longer confined

I used to be afraid of what others would think of me if I offered my opinion in particular circumstances. I also didn't want to feel rejected if I didn't say something right. Often times, I would hold back and not request certain things that I saw were needed. This was all based on wanting people to like "me," and wanting to be accepted and to fit in.

When you rest and gain familiarity with the natural presence and soothing energy of the basic state, you recognize your fundamental identity is not solid and includes everyone as your very self. No longer is there any limitation or fear because we are not defending a personal identity any longer. The fullness and complete perfection of the basic state of awareness has never been confined by any point of view, including "I." The only way to understand this completely, is to rely on the stability of what never changes, the stability of our inherent natural presence, the basic state. True relating begins with recognizing this in our self first.

To recognize means: know, put a name to, remember, recall, recollect, admit, be aware of.

Warm sunlight

Following after point of view is first painful for oneself and then it is painful for others who are interacting with you in your immediate surroundings. By repeatedly focusing in on thoughts, emotions, and experiences, it is by habit that these points of view have been taken to be so real. They have been taken to have a power in and of themselves to guide our actions. With a short moment of total relaxed ease, wide open awareness is your experience whether you are recognizing it or not. Complete gentleness, natural presence, inherent kindness and compassion is the unchanging basic state which is always relaxed, always carefree, always wide open and free of any point of view. Just like the warmth of sunlight filling the sky, awareness outshines and evaporates all clouds no matter how stormy. Perceptual openness takes place when point of view automatically dissipates in the sky of their true nature. This is wisdom in action.

Friday, October 16, 2009

No expectations

I used to live a life where judgment played a role at times, as well as comparing myself to others constantly, and trying to live up to some kind of standard. There was always trying to be the best that I could be, based on what I had learned and observed from others. There was a following of expectations based on what everyone else was doing and how my life was supposed to look. This is completely gone, and the memory of that is a way of life that fills me with compassion for others.

By gaining familiarity with the natural presence of who you are, and understanding that points of view are completely empty and have no substance, there is a full-blown recognition of your true identity, and the true identity of everyone else. You are filled with complete perfection and complete love and warmth at all times, no matter what is going on, or how you are feeling in each moment. It is simply a misperception that thoughts, emotions, and experiences make up a solid you, and that you have to fix yourself or make "you" better somehow. The joy is in the recogonition that "you" are already fundamentally perfect! Just as the sky is wide open and free of any division, so too is the vast natural presence of your true nature.

Tuesday, October 13, 2009

Perfect as you are

The fundamental condition of who you are is naturally engaging, welcoming, and inviting. The basic spaciousness of awareness is naturally confident and is not burdened by the point of view of a personal identity based on thoughts, emotions, life circumstances and experiences. With this recognition you instantly tap into true relating, because you no longer see yourself as separate from anyone else. Relating becomes effortless. You are completely comfortable in your own skin. Nothing to change, perfect as you are. Short moments of clarity, awareness, rest –naturally and organically, you acknowledge complete perfection.

Sunday, October 11, 2009

Simple

With the recognition of who you truly are as the fundamental condition and natural presence of awareness, nothing is in the way anymore.

Limitations are gone beyond. There is no more fear based on who you are, who you should be, what you should say, or what you should do. The pristine warmth and soothing clarity of awareness is forever free and innately knows what is best in each moment.

The natural presence of awareness is "built-in", so to speak. You don't need to go out and look for it. It is your basic operating system. Without this operating system, nothing would be.

By allowing oneself to relax, you are naturally being of benefit to yourself. All that is needed is the gentle commitment and perseverance to allow oneself the opportunity to gain familiarity with the gentle presence and complete love that already exists as your very self, inseperable from absolutely everything.

The simplicity cannot be over emphasized, in this one simple choice.

Thursday, October 8, 2009

Open and committed

When we buy into the belief in point of view, there is an instant closing and collapsing that occurs with this belief. By relying on a short moment of awareness in the face of all of our life circumstances, there is freedom in immediate perception. Forever free awareness, has never been entangled by points of view. Clear knowing of what is going on in any given circumstance is evident in each short moment of clarity. Relying on a short moment of clarity ensures complete stability and well-being no matter what is going on. It is important to know, that with the reliance on a short moment of awareness, repeated many times, the soothing energy of awareness becomes automatic without having to think about it. This is guaranteed, because it is already accomplished. We are simply acknowledging what is already so. Remaining open, and allowing all points of view to be as they are is the greatest gift we can give ourselves and others.

Wisdom of awareness

True relating comes in supporting oneself and others in the wisdom of awareness. Complete discernment, wise actions, wise speech, ultimate compassion is in each short moment of clarity --the stability of awareness. Wide open awareness is always free of any clinging to ideas, or belief systems, it ensures the ability to see what is the perfect thing to say or do, or not do, in each moment. Freedom in immediate perception is the great relief, no matter what is arising. We can only test this out in our own direct experience, by taking a short moment of awareness and repeating it many times. This immediate relief is much easier and gentler than focusing and proliferating the endless stories that seem to cause the perpetual ups and downs of life. Give yourself the human birth right of complete love, not dependent on anything whatsoever. Short moments of awareness, repeated many times, until it becomes automatic.

Sunday, October 4, 2009

Simply realized

The simplicity of our natural state is so easily available and already accomplished. Allowing oneself to take a short moment of clarity is the beginning of this acknowledgment. Organically, a short moment of clarity reveals the pervasive, natural presence of the Basic State of Awareness. Confidence is gained in the stability of awareness, and it is effortlessly and instinctively realized that all points of view are empty, and not solid or real, that they do not make up our identity.

"Instinctive": relating to or prompted by instinct, apparently unconscious or automatic.

"Realized": become fully aware of something as a fact; understood clearly.

"Organic:" characterized by continuous or natural development.

"Empty": containing nothing, not filled or occupied.

Friday, October 2, 2009

Complete love

The trickle-down effect of point of view impacts oneself first, and then everyone else around you. When you take point to view to have a power that can guide your actions, the consequences can be detrimental. It is only by repeating these learned behaviors over time, that the collapsing of point of view can happen so fast, you lose sight as to what is most beneficial to yourself and to others in any given moment.

By taking a short moment of clarity, there is freedom in immediate perception. By repeating short moments of clarity, it is guaranteed that you will gain familiarity with your true identity, the basic state of awareness. The basic state of awareness, has never been fooled by point of view. It has never been blindsided by any of its appearances. It remains completely stable no matter what is arising. There is no difference between what is arising and this stability. You can only decisively experienced this for yourself in each short moment of clarity. Without labeling, describing, or assuming, allow everything to be as it is – wisdom for the benefit of all is instantaneously acknowledged.

Responsiveness as total complete love, compassion, and kindness, is completely beneficial and not contrived and IS the natural movement of the basic state of awareness.

Wednesday, September 30, 2009

Open and allowing

The collapsing of point of view can happen so fast that we do not realize that we are placing immediate limitations on our full capacities and the full capacities of others. This only occurs because of repeating these belief systems, concepts, and ideas over and over throughout our entire lives.

By being completely open and allowing all points of view to be as they are, there is a wide open view that has never been constrained or limited by any idea or thought. By taking a short moment of clarity and repeating it many times, we immediately open up to all possibilities and tap into the limitless capacity to achieve anything we want to do in life.

_______________________

Whatever we choose to repeat is what we realize in each moment. If we choose to indulge negativity, pessimism, stress, anxiety, aggression, pain, joy, happiness, silliness, bliss, nihilism, emptiness, indifference, etc. –this is what is true for us. However, if we make a commitment to a short moment of clarity throughout our day, we will find that our stability and well-being is apparent regardless of whether we are experiencing any of these points of view. Gaining confidence in this inherent stability within each of us is crucial. Instinctively recognizing the well-being that has never changed no matter what is going on in our lives is key to immediate relief for ourselves and immediately impacts those around us in a beneficial way. We begin to respond from this well-being and openness rather than responding or reacting from the points of view.

Monday, September 28, 2009

True well-being

It is so wonderful to allow oneself the gift to simply relax. No one else is going to do that for us. In my own life, there used to be a tendency to get caught up in worrying about every little detail of how things should turn out, or should be, or what was going to happen next. By focusing in on these stories, the snowball effect of the story grew and grew. This focus created sheer stress, worry and concern that seemed of great importance and caused perpetual ups and downs of happiness and unhappiness in my life.

What a change it is not to get caught up in the stories any longer. By taking a short moment of clarity and repeating it many times, confidence and reliance on the stability of clarity is forefront. By allowing the natural rest of clarity, there is innate wisdom and complete relief in no longer being pulled in any direction by the stories and different points of view. We never know what we will face in life. To be able to rely on our innate stability no matter what is "coming down," benefits us first and then benefits everyone around us. This is true well-being.

Tuesday, September 22, 2009

Responding rather than reacting

Many times in my own direct experience of life I would react in different circumstances either quietly and internally or outwardly in a manner that did not serve anyone, including myself. There was always wanting to make the circumstance better or to hide from different circumstances that I did not prefer.

In taking short moments of clarity many times throughout the day, a gaining of familiarity with the natural presence of awareness grew and grew. With the pointing out that this was actually the nature of who I am and who everyone else was, there was a profound recognition that all of the ideas, thoughts, emotions (points of view), that everyone experiences, were completely insubstantial, empty and not solid or real. From that moment on, a full wellness of total love, ease, calm, and an immense movement to help others was present. No longer was their reactivity based on points of view, but a natural responsiveness in circumstances, and a clear seeing of exactly knowing what to do and how to act.

Getting used to living in this way has been incredible. To rely on the stability of awareness, rather than the flow of different thoughts, feelings and emotions, brings about a wisdom that is completely inherent to all of us. The brilliance of awareness continues to exude marvelous stability that repeatedly outshines all points of view without having to do anything. I am finally comfortable in my own skin.

Sunday, September 20, 2009

We are not our points of view

You might think what I'm writing is a point of view, and you're right! However, in order to have points of view, we must be aware. Every single human being is aware. There is not anyone, anywhere who can say that they are not aware. By simply testing out the simple instruction of relaxing, or resting, for short moments throughout our day, we gain familiarity with an inherent stability that is within each and every one of us, the Basic State of Awareness.

This stability has always been with us since we were born and has never changed throughout our lifetime. This stability, this is what to rely on! The stability of the Basic State of Awareness, self knowing awareness, is our true identity. This Awareness is not an individual Awareness, but one Awareness that is inclusive of all human beings throughout the world.

We are not our points of view, based on an accumulation of thoughts, emotions, and life experiences. With one instant of resting as Awareness, we tap into our inherent wisdom and respond from that wisdom with a clear vantage, clear speech, and the total clarity of who we truly are. We respond from the stability of Awareness, and recognize that all points of view are included and contained within the all-encompassing view of the Basic State of Awareness. Nothing is left out and there is no split. We recognize that no point of view exists independent of Awareness, that there only is Awareness and its self arising display of points of view, or dynamic energy.

When we rest, it feels so good, it feels completely relieving. As we gain confidence in the complete stability of Awareness as our true nature, simultaneously we have a movement to be of service to others without question or contrivance.

Our full potential

It does not matter what our points of view are. To continually rely on the stability and clarity of awareness, we are naturally empowered to accomplish and do anything that we would like to in our lives. It simply does not matter what we are thinking –the thought patterns, experiences, sensations and emotions, are simply out of habit and are all okay. It is only by believing in the repetition of these habit patterns as being solid and real, that we have limited our full potential. When we rely on the stability of the inherent wisdom of awareness, we are able to make powerful choices that not only benefit ourselves, but immediately benefit our surrounding circumstances.

Tuesday, September 15, 2009

Supporting others

What a wonderful gift it is not to make people wrong any longer. To rely on the stability of awareness, everyone is equally embraced as our very selves. With the recognition of the Basic State of Awareness as our true identity, we are able to see what is going on in any given situation and act and speak in an extremely wise, and beautifully compassionate manner. We become very clear as to what is needed, but in such a skillful way that is inclusive and nurturing to others so as to support them in their own empowerment. In each short moment of restful awareness, no longer are we driven by the need to correct or control all of the many people in our lives.

Our birthright

The only way to truly come to an understanding of one's own true nature, is to allow oneself to rest for short moments repeated many times when we remember to do so. Understanding this from an intellectual perspective is wonderful, but unless we have the instinctive recognition of the pervasive fullness and stability of the soothing energy of awareness, as our true identity, we will be missing the gift of what it means to be human.

It is important to be extremely gentle with ourselves as we gain familiarity with the Basic State of Awareness. Just as it took time for us to condition ourselves into believing our points of view, it will take time for us to gain confidence in the stability of awareness that is inherent to us all–our birthright.

No work

With the instinctive recognition of our true identity as the Basic State of Awareness, all work becomes completely effortless. No longer is it a big deal, to go the extra mile as to what is needed in any daily activities or any projects in life whether it be work, or family. With the wide-open view of awareness, everything that is needed is taken care of so easily and effortlessly. No longer are there the thoughts of it being "hard work" in order to do a complete and thorough job with all of our many tasks. Everything is attended to as if every single task in life were our very own to complete without effort and with extreme, tender care. With the instinctive recognition of our true nature, we benefit and serve without deliberation. This caring can never be contrived and is only naturally recognized by repeating short moments of rest whenever we remember to do so. Natural rest becomes automatic without contrivance.

Nothing to defend

The plague of point of view can take us out in an instant if we buy into points of view as being solid and real. With the instinctive recognition of the basic state of awareness as our identity, there is nothing to guard or defend. There is no need to try to understand this intellectually or from anything that we've learned. Only by gaining familiarity with the natural inherent basis of awareness can we embrace the unflinching stability and pervasiveness of the soothing energy of awareness. We do this by taking a short moment of rest and repeating it many times throughout our day, until it becomes automatic. The natural movement of awareness is wide open acceptance, loving kindness, willingness, and benefit that supersedes all points of view.

Perfectly well

By allowing everything to be as it is, without trying fix any of our perceptions, we notice that all points of view are self-sufficient and are self-releasing. In other words, we do not need to get in there to try to manipulate and change our points of view in order to feel better. Our well-being is already always ensured. Perceptions are like ripples on water, diminishing in and of themselves. -- It is then that we respond from our greater wisdom and operate out of total benefit, first for ourselves and then to others.

The basis of all points of view

Focusing in on what is going wrong or what is going well, or constantly describing by saying "this" is the way it is, or this is the way "that" is, is based on our own ideas of what we have learned to be real for us over time. It is simply out of habit and by repeating these ideas, concepts and belief systems that we have trained ourselves to believe all of our points of view. If we simply relax for a short moment, we instantly tap into the basis of all points of view, the natural presence of awareness. Awareness itself has never been involved in any point of view. Awareness is the basis from which all points of view arise.

We have a choice as to how we use our awareness. We can continue to perpetuate our points of view, and allow all of these to guide our actions, or we can rest as the basis of all appearances, naturally responding from the wisdom of awareness that is completely stable at all times. The benefit is immediate to ourselves and then to others. We simply feel so much better, and life is no longer hard work.

Test it out!

Recognizing the Natural Presence of who we truly are is not some "weird" or "out there" position or idea. In fact, it is so entirely simple and is available to those who are interested. By testing out a short moment of rest, we instantly are tapping into our true nature and inherent wisdom. By committing to short moments of rest throughout the day, (or whenever we remember to do so), we give ourselves the opportunity to gain familiarity with a stability inherent to our true identity. This identity is not based on ideas, concepts, or life experiences. It is the primordial presence of the Basic State....that which has never changed throughout our entire lives and that which makes all ideas, concepts and life experiences possible. We come to understand in our own experience that there is no separation between these points of view and the Basic State. This equals solid well-being, natural service and benefit to others effortlessly possible throughout our lifetime.

True Identity

Who we are is not an accumulation of life experiences, thoughts, feelings, emotions, labels or descriptions, accomplishments and achievements. Who we are is not based on an accumulation of how many years we have lived and how much knowledge we have attained. By gaining familiarity with the fundamental condition of our natural state, we are introducing our self to our true identity which has always been present, the fundamental stability that is pervasively at ease no matter what is going on and is beyond anything that can be described.

With the commitment to resting naturally for short moments repeated many times, without labeling everything within descriptive frameworks (past, present, future), we allow a natural unfolding that is so entirely gentle and revealing. The spontaneous instinctive recognition of this fundamental soothing energy of the Basic State as who we truly are, simultaneously reveals that all thoughts, emotions, ideas, sensations, and knowledge are empty of their own being. All viewpoints are realized to be insubstantial and inseparable from the ground of being! What a relief!

With this natural recognition, we tap into supreme wisdom and beneficial activities that are effortless and not contrived. No longer is life hard work, nor are relationships hard work. We see everyone as our very selves. We can face anything and everything with natural confidence and fearlessness. Test it out in your own experience! There is nothing to achieve, as the natural presence of awareness is simply the gift of being human, and is always here whether we are recognizing it or not.

Decision making: Clarity and Inherent Knowing

Decision making is much easier without the battering around of points of view. With natural rest and reliance on the Basic State, many avenues, choices and possibilities open up. We have this inherent understanding and knowing that is of greater intelligence. This intelligence is never caught up in itself and is totally stable no matter what is occurring. All thinking, considerations, emotions and sensations are not separate from the Basic State, everything is included. By the power of reliance on short moments of rest, repeatedly, we gain a full understanding of this inseparability in our own experience. When faced with decisions we are able to thoroughly see what will be involved and what will come with these decisions. We can ask ourselves, what will be of benefit to me, and what will be of most benefit to the most people. The relief lies in rest which is wide open Clarity, vast like the sky!
